Beats Emptiness is a multidisciplinary installation by Sheng Jie Snow, Marinus Groen & Jochem Knoef (aka Onna Limb).
In the collective work, analog visuals are created through the use of glass, water and light.
The music is written with the contrast between chaos and emptiness as the main theme, and how we humans involve more chaos or emptiness in our lives for the sake of finding distraction meaning, or balance. Sometimes, we perhaps just need to give up control.
The installation follows the movement in the music but also lives its own life. Water acts as an uncontrollable medium, dancing freely on the walls and floor.
The room acts as an echo chamber for the music and visuals, the ripples of water through the glass and refracting light serves as a metaphor for what goes on in our own skulls and make for an immersive experience.
